GENERAL TRYOUT SCHEDULE
*Dancers will be expected to learn required material by 4:00 PM on Friday, May 2nd. Tryout material links will be emailed to the email on your registration on April 22nd. Please check your spam if you do not receive it. If you register after April 22nd, your links to the tryout material will be in your confirmation email.

Day 1:

  • 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM | Registration Check in
  • 4:30 PM - 9:00 PM | Review video tryout material

Day 2:

  • 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM | Registration Check in
  • 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM | New Membr Interviews
  • 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM | In Person Tryouts
  • 7:30 OM | Announcement of 2025-2026 Teams - The teams will be published to all social media platforms.
  • A short celebration party for all team members will follow immediately after at World Class All Star Dance.

TRYOUT DETAILS
*Appropriate dress

  • For tryouts, wear a plain black top (dance top, sports bra, Tank or halter top are all acceptable and black dance shorts
  • Dance shoes should be worn at all times (no boots, please)
  • Stud earrings and rings are the only jewelry allowed, and hair should be up and back out of the face in a slicked back low pony or bun (no hair accessories, please)
  • Tennis shoes and black baggier clothing may be worn for hip hop portions of tryouts

TRYOUT ELIGIBILITY
The following must be completed by 11:59 PM on Thursday, May 1st:

  • Apply and be accepted to Lindenwood University (the application process is briefly explained below)
  • Turn in an application, transcripts, and test scores (If the GPA or test score requirements are not met, committee admission may be granted at Lindenwood University’s discretion.)
  • Complete and turn in the required items listed below:
    • $75 registration fee
    • personal information page
    • liability waiver (integrated into the google form)
    • unofficial copy of transcript (current Lindenwood students only)
    • copy of acceptance letter (incoming freshmen and transfers only)
    • current headshot

TRYOUT REQUIREMENTS

  • All dancers (returning and new) must attend tryouts in order to be eligible to participate in the program. Exceptions in cases of extreme circumstances will be handled at the head coach’s discretion on a case-by-case basis.
  • Dancers should maintain a collegiate look that may include but is not limited to an athletic and fit physique and hair of a reasonably natural color tone that reaches one’s shoulders. Once making a team any significant changes must go through the head coach before being done including but is not limited to full color change, extreme length change etc.
  • The following technical skills will be performed through out our season and should be prepared to perform within tryout combos and improv:
    • Quad pirouette and advanced al a seconde turn combinations
    • Double leg spin and penche
    • Russian twist jump and turning toe touch
    • Kip up and headspring variations

MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Dancers are required to uphold the program covenants and to adhere to the Student Life Sports code of conduct. As ambassadors of Lindenwood University and the Dance Team Program, members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
  • Academics will remain each member’s priority, and class attendance and grades will reflect this value. Dancers are expected to maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Attendance and participation is mandatory at ALL practices, camps, fundraisers, community service functions, appearances, performances, and competitions. Dancers should expect to commit 10-20 hours per week throughout the school year as well as over school breaks and 20-30 hours per week during competition season.
  • NO class times what so ever may interfere with practice times without communication with coaches prior to enrolling in the class.
  • Each member will be expected to participate in team fundraisers and will also be responsible for purchasing personal team items costing up to $1,500. Lindenwood University covers the teams’ uniforms, warm-ups, and poms, which will be distributed at the beginning of the dance season and returned once the season is over. Dancers are financially responsible for any lost or damaged items.
  • To better ensure the success of the university and the dance team program in the future, dancers will be expected to help in recruiting efforts.
  • No dancer is allowed to leave early or come late from an outside job or any other reason unless cleared by the head coach.
  • Everything given with a 2 week notice is MANDATORY and we will also require a 2 week notice from you for any reason you may have to miss. Otherwise it will NOT be excused unless it is an emergency and cleared by coaches.
